Clinical application of autologic bone marrow stem cells
Regional stem cells can be also received from the bone marrow of the adult body.
They are divided into 2 populations:
Hemopoietic stem cells (HSC) have the ability of selfreproduction, differentiation and maturation. They can differentiate in bone marrow, liver, vessels cells. Clinical transplantation of HSC is indicated in cases of hematologic, neurologic, cardio-vascular, liver diseases, ageing, etc.
Mesenchymal stem cells - pluripotent stromal bone marrow cells which can differentiate in the cells of cartilaginous, bone, muscular tissues and skin.
These cells are widely used for the treatment of rheumatological diseases, in cardiosurgery and orthopedics, cosmetic surgery, neurology, cardiology, diabetology, reconstructive surgery, etc.
Thus 2 types of stem cells can be received from the bone marrow of every patient. These cells can be retained (for many years) or can be used immediately after revitalization and treatment of different diseases.
Technology of harvesting and cultivation of bone marrow stem cells
Bone marrow is taken from the upper flaring portion of the ilium. The application of local anesthesia makes the operation painless.
Bone marrow goes to the laboratory of cellular cultures in sterile test-tubes. .Hemopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells are isolated from bone marrow. HSC are stored in the culture for a week; their growth and reproduction is stimulated using growth factors. Mesenchymal stem cells are cultivated for 3-4 weeks since their amount is much less than HSC. The biomass of mesenchymal cells is increased in 300 times in 3-4 weeks. This amount of cells will be enough for the course of treatment.
