Everybody broods over ageing. The main aim of biomedical examinations is life extension and maintenance of active longevity. Despite the variety of ageing theories there is a close connection between the processes which give start to genetic program of cellular degeneration. Change in expression of genes which are responsible for renewal, specialization and destruction of cells plays a leading role in this process.
Studying of ageing mechanisms in organs and tissues has shown the reduction in production of many physiologically active substances of peptide nature and in intensity of protein synthesis. The mechanisms of peptide regulation of homeostasis carry out a common task, namely, coordinate processes of biosynthesis in body cells by their influence on genes expression. Long-term experimental and clinical researches on inhibition of ageing processes with the help of bioregulators secreted by extraction from tissues or synthesized chemically can be considered as confirmation of the above-stated.
While trying to resolve this problem, the scientists have secreted from two major body organs which involution leads to intensification of ageing processes - Thymus and Epiphysis, a complex of stem cells growth differentiating factors (bioregulators) which stimulate in case of their injection into the body the renewal of body functions and thus slow down the process of age involution and ageing.
Several researches have established that the use of these bioregulators, Thymus and Epiphysis growth differentiating factors, considerably extends life and also slows down the development of ageing processes.
Epiphysis slows down age changes in reproductive and immune systems extending life by 30-40%. These effects can be accompanied by stimulating Epiphysis influence on melatonin synthesis and secretion and mechanisms of antioxidant protection. Epiphysis application led to substantial life extension and intensification of activity.
Today a significant experience of application of these medicines in clinical practice is gained.
Epiphysis application stimulates normalization of estradiol content, hydrocortisone level in the body of women during climacteric period. The efficiency of this bioregulator for patients suffering diabetes has been already established. After Epiphysis injection there was a decrease of glucose level in blood. In oncologic practice the application of this bioregulator has shown high efficiency in cases of hormones depending tumors. Epiphysis injection in addition to radio- and chemotherapy led to increase of lymphocytes quantity, stimulated improvement of the patient's general condition and decrease of intoxication symptoms.
Studying of Epiphysis antioxidant actions has shown real increase of parameters, general antioxidant and antiradical activity of blood serum of elderly patients, reduction of lipid oxidation content and increase of superoxiddysmutase and glutationperoxidase activity. The received results show the efficiency of Epiphysis application for correction of antioxidant prevention system by ageing and age pathology.

Ageing process is mainly defined by peculiarities of neurophysiological mechanisms of functional changes at different levels in regulation of brain integrative activity. Thus, characteristic age features of brain blood circulation, bioelectric brain activity, parameters of nervous activity which depend on genetic predisposition to development of brain diseases, previous diseases or traumas, and also metabolic dysfunctions can be seen.

Current information about the mechanisms of neuroimmunoendocrine regulation of body functions was used for application of a medicine secreted from cortex for the treatment of brain diseases and traumas. The efficiency of its application for patients with encephalopathies of various genesis is, probably, connected with direct influence of the medicine on regeneration and metabolism of nervous cells which promote renewal of neural functional activity and significant improvement of brain integrative functions in general.

Treatment of patients with chronic prostatitis and benign prostate hyperplasia (adenoma) is one of the most acute problems of modern geriatric urology and andrology. Application of prostate bioregulator for these patients has allowed to establish its tissue specific and geropotective action. Medical effect of prostate growth differentiated factor is connected with normalizing influence of the medicine on proliferation and differentiation processes of prostate cells and also with regulating influence on urinary bladder cells and inhibition of hemostasis thrombocytic-vascular mechanism.

By exogenetic injection of bioregulators (especially together with the application of stem cells) there is a replacement of a damaged link of physiological regulation which allows the body to renew the weakened or lost function and then to maintain it for a long time.
Absence of serious body changes during the first injection of bioregulators and gradual "soft" increase of effects show that their interaction with a cell is typical only to growth factors.
The problem of substitutive or stimulating character of bioregulative therapy is essential. It is necessary to note that all listed bioregulators have only one contra-indication - individual intolerance which happens rarely. Bioregulators promote renewal of intensity of tissue specific protein synthesis and adjust genes expression responsible for differentiation and proliferation of stem cells.
Since bioregulators can be considered as informative regulators of genetic stability, it leads to maintenance of the basic physiological functions and slows down the ageing process. It opens essentially new prospects in studying mechanisms and prevention of premature ageing, life extension and also allows to correct age changes. Application of bioregulators allows to achieve increase of average life extension up to the top specific limit (110-120 years) with maintenance of its high quality at elderly and senile age.
Today 23 bioregulators are used by the Institute. All these medicines are received from various organs, tissues and are capable to renew body functions. Results of experimental and clinical studying of bioregulators in leading scientific - medical institutions of the country and abroad showed their high value for medicine. Thus, in experiments the medicines promoted increase of average life by 30-40 % that allowed to reach the top specific limit of life. Researches on old monkeys have shown that injection of bioregulators allowed to renew endocrine system function completely up to the level of young animals Researches on people made in the period 1992-2002 in 2 leading gerontological centres have shown that the use of medicines for people of elderly age led to renewal of the basic physiological functions, increase of physical work capacity, and also reduction of death rate more than twice. Application of bioregulators for 10 years has shown their full safety and harmlessness since no case of complications have been registered. Achievements of the Russian scientists in this field play a leading role in world gerontology.
